First Lego League
Citilab will be holding a classifying tournament of the First Lego league, the most spectacular robot competition in the world. 16 teams will be testing their ingenuity and a hoping to pass to the Spanish final. Citilab is one of six centres in Spain where the qualifying tournaments will be taking place.
The First Lego League is a global programme for kids between 10 and 16 and combines an educational programme of robotics with a sporting atmosphere. Teams of 4-10 participants work intensely during months in the construction of a robot, project resolution and the preparation of a scientific investigation.
The First Labour league 2008 Challenge is Climatic Connections, an international challenge which helps to resolve environmental problems in the real world.
Over the weeks teams have to plan their strategy, design, construct, programme, test and refine an autonomous robot capable of completing the various missions of the FLL International using Lego Mindstormstm.
The tournament has taken place annually since 1998. Last year saw the participation of more than 100,000 kids in 38 countries, organised in 10,000 teams.
