PlanAvanza2 begins

The new PlanAvanza2, part of the Plan-E (Plan to Stimulate the Economy and Employment), has a budget of €1.5 billion for 2009 and will contribute to the creation of almost 200,000 jobs for highly qualified worker in the next four years.
The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Francisco Ros, presented the call for grants and the programmes of the Plan on February 18th, accompanied by the General Director for the Development of the Information Society, David Kyoto, and the Director General of the .es network, Sebastián Muriel.
The previous Plan Avanza had a budget of more than €9 billion. After evaluating the objectives reached, this new phase was designed to consolidate strategic lines to continue obtaining significant advances and for this reason is working towards a temporary horizon of 2012.
The objective is to give more help to SMEs, stimulate the creation of jobs with high added value and to invest technological capital in companies with the intention of contributing to the economic recovery of the country through the intensive use of the capacities of ICT and the Information and Knowledge Society to improve productivity and competitiveness of companies, stimulating a model of economic and social growth and environmental sustainability.
The budget for grants for 2009, divided into the sub programmes Avanza Training, Avanza R&D, Avanza Citizens, Avanza Digital Public Services and Avanza Content, has a budget of €600 million.
