The postulations of the "father of the theory of evolution", 150 years on

Today sees the beginning of the The Darwin Heritage: The current biological revolution from an evolutionist perspective, at Citilab.
For three days, from April 20 - 22 , the conference programme inspired by the theories of Darwin, and which commemorates the 150th anniversary of the publication of “On the Origin of Species”, will feature presentations which question new paradigms from an evolutionist perspective with the aim of understanding the current biological revolution extended to areas as varied as neuroscience, linguistics, social sciences and philosophy.
“On the Origin of Species” is made up of sub-theories: two of the great theories put forward in the Origin were the theory of descent, with evidence in favour of the fact of evolution, and the theory of natural selection which establishes the mechanism of evolutionary change.
In 1964, the geneticist Theodosius Dobzhansky stated that ”Nothing in Biology Makes Sense Except in the Light of Evolution”. Today we ‘re seeing a revolution in biology without precedents in history: knowledge about the brain is advancing at a dizzying pace and the neurosciences, which study the nervous system from a multidisciplinary perspective, are opening up a new conception of the human mind, of consciousness, emotions and conduct.
The IES Francesc Macià secondary school, Cultura 3.0 and Citilab-Cornellà have organised the the first Darwin Sessions which can be followed live online here
