Self-Portrait, a self-portrait by mobile phone workshop
The photographic self-portrait in the digital era allows everybody to create a work of art intuitively and without having to know the art of photography. The artist Cristina Nuñez has spent years experimenting with children, adolescents and adults of all cultures, helping them to take a self-portrait with her camera, or or proposing the use of digital cameras or mobiles. When they press the button, everybody expresses the natural desire to reinforce their existence and the knowledge that they are producing art. We are in the era of the self-portrait: Facebook, Flickr, MySpace & Youtube are full of them and are also a type of self-portrait. Right now many people, especially the young, need to strengthen their identity and communicate it to the world. Via the look, metaphor of their creative power, the self-portraitist takes on a triple role - at the same time they are author, subject and spectator. The dynamic relationships between the three roles is the basis of the creative process and makes the the works incredibly communicative. Cristina Nuñez uses her unique method in schools, companies, prisons, mental health centres and hospitals.
Workshop contents
Presentation of the project: projection of self-portraits (paintings and photos).
Group planning session.
First exercises with the mobile handset.
Viewing, group discussion and selection of images produced by participants.
Intuitive reading of the images.
Selection criteria.
Self-portrait preparation. Dialogue with the camera lens.

Mobile games workshop
Starting with the material created in the self-portrait workshop, the participants will do do a second workshop to create games which play with the concepts of the street, participation and creative group work.
