It was an intense evening which kicked off with an interesting conference from Dave Harte
Dave Harte, an expert in social technology, introduced us to the development of digital cities as a result of his own experience with the Digital Birmingham project. Harte focussed his approach on key aspects such as access to data generated by the city on behalf of its citizens, the factors for a digital city and the economic opportunities that geeks and hackers can create.
The creation in record time of an""alternative web " to the City Council of Birmingham, ord de la " web alternativa "del Ayuntamiento de Birmingham, BCC DIY (Do it Yourself) by the "tech" community in the city is a prime example. It is worth remembering that the official website costed around 2.8m pounds.
