CitiLab will once again be the venue for the Workshops UrbanLabs, with a series of conferences given by key figures in the field of urban innovation and new technologies, with practical workshops around: new possibilities of social interaction via mobile devices; projects for citizen participation via geolocalization; and strategies for development of digital cities.

These are the keynote speakers for UrbanLabs'09:

Adam Greenfield: responsible for interface and services design at Nokia, and known over the world for his activity as a writer and consultant at Razorfish, where he has lead the department of information architecture. He wrote Everyware: The Dawning Age of Ubiquitous Computing and is professor of urban computing at the University of New York. He is also credited with coming up with the term ""moblog" for describing the practice of publishing on the Internet via handheld devices, and is in general a reference point in the field of user experience. He has spent the last few years exploring the intersection between technology, design and culture, with special emphasis on ubiquitous computing.

Juan Freire biologist, university professor and entrepreneur. Explorer in the role of innovation, strategy and technology and digital culture in social networks, organizations and cities. Since March 2009 he is in charge of Digital Ecconomics at the EOI Business School. He develops projects and a consultancy with companies, public administrations and NGO’s around sustainability and environmental-management into the rold of innovation, strategy and technology and digital culture in social networks and organizations, especially in universities, companies and cities. He works regularly with the digital publication Soitu.es

Ben Cerveny: works in the development of research projects in the intersection between games design, ció urban planning and participative culture. He is also a consultant for new initiatives in data visualization, ubiquitous computing, reactive and urban architecture. He also works as a consultant in services and advanced devices with clients like Arup, Google, Philips, and Nintendo. He is the founder and director of VURB, a pioneering european experience for the development of computational urbanism and strategic advisor for Stamen Design. Previously, he was founder of the Design Experience Laboratory at frogdesign, and games designer and responsible for platform development at Ludicorp (Flickr).

Dave Harte: directs the Master en Social Media, a new course developped by Birmingham City University. To date he has been in charge of the Digital Birmingham project at Birmingham City Council, designed to widen participation via digital technologies for citizens and business. For many years his professional career was spent in economic digital strategy in the West Midlands, and holding seminars in a wide area of subjects related to the media and communication. He has also worked as an audiovisual technician, photographer and production director.
