Living Lab "Tech School”

Goals:
To extend the methodology of appropriation of technology developed at Citilab to the schools, within the people at school age, based on the constructions of programmes, histories and worlds.

Motivation:
Citilab’s working method has one of its pillars in the creation of authentic technology creators. We consider it is very important that programming is used in schools as another knowledge creation method together with mathematics and natural language. From programming, other disciplines can be studied trough modelling, world creation and simulation. This is a very important metaphor that has been widely explored and applied by the divulgation programmes from institutions like the MIT.
The main concept is to use the constructs of programming in conjunction with the learning of other disciplines. The workshops for every age at Citilab are open to a general audience, including children and teenagers at school age. However, we understand that they must be spread across the school in cooperation with teachers to obtain a greater effectiveness.

Specific characteristics
This project works simultaneously with two populations: the youngsters and teachers. As support populations, we must work with the families and with the centres' management structure.
