To the wide range of digital training-courses from Citilab we can now add one with real rhythm, that is set to make a big noise this year. MusicLab is already in rehearsal, which means that we can now talk about an eminently musical project from Citilab-Cornellà: a stable programme of music classes on-line - multidisciplinary and multiple styles- for all levels and all ages.

The aim of the project is to put all of the knowledge necessary to promote musical practice creating a network of centres interested in pedagogical musical content. The on-line sessions of music will hopefully serve as pedagogical capsules complementary to curricular projects at each centre, offering new specialized perspectives that contribute to diversity and dynamising global musical training. The experience of Sergio Ramos and Santi Sánchez as music teachers inspired them to launch this initiative.

Baptism of fire... successfully negotiated!
Last Friday was the first rehearsal with a live transmision, via Internet, of a class given by a musician from the studio at Citilab. The pilot was successful and the students from the Music School of Can Massallera, Cultural Association F enjoyed the performance and the explanations of the musician who was giving the performance in Cornellà. The broadcasting system showed itself capable of allowing interactivity between both points, allowing the youngsters to question the musician, who could answer in real time.

This is the transmission of the masterclass shown to the Music School of Can Massallera

This pilot is only the beginning of a project aiming to offer a masterclass each month with wellknown artists and music professionals who will reveal their techniques to all of the users interested in receiving musical training in a novel way.

A project for the future
The calendar of teaching sessions, taking place at the Citilab installations, is forecast to begin next month with a look at the guitar, and the following months at other instruments - piano, bass, drums and violin...-.

This will be the first phase of MusicLab, which will act as a test for contents and in which other aspects related with the project will be developped. From seminars to artistic get-togethers, going from streaming transmissions of concerts or programming of content where music and pedagogy overlap. Finally, with its consolidation, the philosophy of MusicLab could be extrapolated to other artístic content such as theatre, painting, dance, etc.

MusicLab aims to be an innovative project able to generate interest from the sector, requiring co-operation between public and private bodies such as the regional government and Barcelona authorities and Cultural organizations. Furthermore, there will be work on creating a multimedia site to host the contents and interaction, offering cultural and specialized musical events such as seminars or auditions...
