Citilab packs a late summer punch

Following an energy recharging break for the hols, Citilab kicks off its activities with more force than ever. From the middle of September onwards anyone can enjoy a wider programme available for courses and workshops involving technology, in which those studying decide the itinerary they wish to follow. Should anyone prefer, they can start already this September coming to Citilab for one last weekend with the study desks open to the public.

Smalltalk workgroup begins

Smalltalk.cat has been created in Citilab by a group of enthusiasts of the computer programming language that, 30 years after its creation, continues to be revolutionary. The group is made up of members of Citilab and the Departamento de Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos of the UPC and held its first work meeting this week.

TechnoLab

TechnoLab is a pilot project for “living” technology. This workshop is aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 9. Its goal is to bring both technology and the methodology of working with technology to primary school kids by using participative, fun workshops where learning is gradual. The children participate fully acquiring technological capabilities and can provide new topics and ways of seeing constructing a TechnoLab, a dual activity between technology and sociology which which wants to find new routes.

The workshop takes place every Thursday from 18:00-19:00.

Scratch courses

The courses of Scratch, the game of in intelligent constructions, have begun

Young children learn basic concepts of computer programming playing with construction blocks. Each colour has an effect, (movements, dreams, images, logical conditions) which means that when they put the pieces together, the kids can see how a cartoon, a video game or even a robot responded to their instructions.

The classes continue until the end of March.

Citilab begins the year with technology training for all ages

After the festive season, Citilab is proposing learning (and enjoying) technology as a New Year’s resolution. For this reason we are beginning a wide range of courses of digital initiation and specialised workshops.

The training course classes which begin from January 19th last approximately 10 weeks, and the workshops which begin from January 27th will last until the end of February and the beginning of March.

Back from holidays, Citilab offers new courses and proposals for seeing technology from a different point of view. Superzero, a special course for persons who haven’t ever had contact with computers, and diverse specialised workshops like the ones about robotics and free hardware, as well as blogs and Linux, are the new, innovative learning opportunities we offer.

Coursers will start September the 15th.
