Cornellà Creació to accelerate the economic motor of the city

On the 10th december Cornellàcreació Fòrum was constituted, a new project to stimulate the business fabric throughout the zone drawing together go-ahead institutions in innovation, like Citilab. Its philosophy is similar to the recently presented INNOBAIX (see archive for details), the Agency for Industrial Innovation and Knowledge in the Baix Llobregat region, but focussed instead on the town. Nine O’Clock in the morning in the square adjacent to the World Trade Center in Cornellà. With their takeaway cups of freshly-made café in hand and quickening step, people were proceeding to their offices casting curious glances at the tables and laptops laid out by Laia and Enric under the banners of Festival Breakout.

The Senior Citizens University of Cornellà classes start in Citilab

The project has been created by the UNED a la Ciutat de Cornellà, the local branch of the Spanish Open University, which belongs to the Centre Universitari Xarxa Area Metropolitana CUXAM, (the metropolitan network of university centres) and is directly associated with the UNED de Terrassa. The idea is to provide over 50’s with training programmes with different formats and objectives.

Presentation of the Cornellà Womens Network website

Dones en Xarxa (Womens Network) have organised the Presentation of the Cornellà Womens Network website at Citilab. They will also be presenting diplomas to the participants of the "Women Connect!" and "Activism2.0" workshops.
The fundamental objective of the Dones en Xarxa project is to foment the use of Internet as a communication, relation and participation tool for women in their everyday life.

Study Rooms

From December 19th until January 25th, Citilab will be home to the study rooms of Cornellà; a space to study individually and/or in groups which will be open during the three most intense exam periods. The centre has new rooms with WiFi.

An opening to full participation by women in Internet

Starting next week, and continuing until the beginning of March, Citilab will be hosting “Women Connect!”, an initiative brought about by the collaboration between Mujeres en Red and the council of Cornellà through the Centro de Información y Recursos para las Mujeres (CIRD) .

The courses will begin on January 12th and continue until approximately March 8th, coinciding with International Women’s Day.

Thousands of people enjoyed technology at the Children’s Christmas Fair

Citilab has taken part for the first time in the Children’s Christmas Fair of Cornellà, now in its sixth year. The stand, which had a large number of visitors, grouped together various themed activities where kids and their families could discover in a fun way playing as a valuable tool for learning and fomenting the culture of technology. The mayor of Cornellà, Antonio Balmón, took an active interest in the activities of Citilab during his visit to the Fair.
